The Awesome Book of Free Stuff (Free download!!!) This has been a pet project for a long time - as an incurable Web-Surfer and "thrifty" Scotsman, I always have an eye out for a free deal, especially if it is something which I want that will save me money. It is common sense really - why pay when you can have it free? From the online Open Source Community providing free software to the offers of unwanted goods in your local area there is a wealth of free stuff you can get your hands on - even make money. I found many of my friends were simply not aware of some of the fantastic goodies out there, so I started to compile some of the best ones into a document which grew and still grows. Discount coupons, Cashback Schemes, Affiliate Schemes, Free Software and Applications, Free e-books, Free Tutorials, Money-Saving websites, Free Google Adwords, Free Websites, Great Time-Saving Tools, etc. etc. How to Fix Depression Is the book I wrote after three years of (amateur) research into fixing depression initially for my own sake. I found some astonishing things; I still wonder WHY the heck was I not told any of this? So I wrote the book to share the truth with the world. Did you know that the brain naturally grows new cells? - in fact that is how we learn. When this process is halted we get depressed. The part of the brain called the "Hippocampus" (where this "neurogenesis" should occur) can physically shrink - as has been found in autopsies on suicides who had suffered from depression. This shrinkage of the hippocampus and interuption of neurogenesis is reversible. Another part of the brain, (normally regulated by hormones from the hippocampus) can grow, and this produces the stress hormones that we associate with the "Fight or flight" response. So people may be aggressive, or anxious when in ill health. Serotonin "the Happy Hormone" apparently should normally regulate neurogenesis, and hippocampus and Amygdala size, but apparently something like 80% of us are suffering from Serotonin Starvation. (This is largely due to diet & processed foods) Doctors usually prescribe drugs to conserve Serotonin levels, but it is possible to boost serotonin levels with inexpensive food supplements that can bring relief overnight. The Serotonin cycle is linked to several key nutrients, Niacin, Iron, Magnesium and Vitamin C, so it is possible to increase the levels of this "happy hormone" just by modifying your diet. Apparently, about a third of people suffering from depression may feel some relief in around 10 minutes by taking niacin. Something like 75% of people are getting up to 50% less magnesium than they should. Catch my recent Radio Interview about this book here (wind the timeline on to about 90 minutes to catch my slot) |
